Area players named to all-metro softball team

The high school softball season may be over, but the honors have continued to roll in for area standouts.

A host of players from the three Class 5A Ascension Parish schools have been named to the all-metro team.

East Ascension duo Rachel LeCoq and Tiffany Robinson, who led the Spartans to the state tournament as pitcher and catcher, were both first-team selections. Teammate Brooke Courville earned an honorable mention.

Dutchtown’s pitcher and catcher, Alexi Reynolds and Jade Bourgeois, also took first-team honors.

St. Amant led the three parish teams with five players receiving recognition.

Three Gators seniors made the first team: Kandace Boudreaux, Kelly Luquette and Melanie Parker. Aime Parent and Whitney Troxclair earned second-team honors.

Live Oak’s Natalie Fernandez was named Outstanding Player, while Zachary’s Leslie Efferson was Coach of the Year.
