Ascension Mets win championship

The Ascension Mets 12U baseball team won the USSSA North State Championship June 13. The Ascension Mets 12U baseball team won the USSSA North State Championship June 13.

The boys went undefeated in the tournament which consisted of nine teams in the 12AA division at the State Championship tournament held in Pineville. In Friday pool play, the boys defeated the Franklinton Doctors 8-6. Continuing the winning streak, the Mets captured number two seed, winning their second pool play game defeating Warrior Baseball 12-5. The Mets went undefeated again in Sunday’s bracket games, capturing wins against the Franklington Doctors 9-3, Cenla Baseball 8-7, and finally winning the championship game against Southern Surge 7-6.

The Mets are coached by Kyle Suire of Suire’s Baseball Academy in Gonzales. Suire, formerly of the New York Mets, attended ULM and Dutchtown High.
