SHREVEPORT?– No. 22 seed St. Amant fell 1-0 to Caddo Magnet in the Division I bi-district playoffs Friday night at Independence Stadium in Shreveport.

No. 11 seed Caddo (17-3-1) put the winnng goal on the board 15 minutes into the game on a cross with a header to finish after a young St. Amant's shaky start. The Lady Mustangs advance to face Mount Carmel in the regionals.

“I am very proud of our girls tonight and throughout the season,”?St. Amant head coach Jason Naquin said. “To come up here, play in this giant stadium, on this exceptionally large field, and to compete with a very good Caddo team on their home turf is about all you can ask for in a playoff game.

“After such a strong finish at the end of district, all I was really hoping for was a shot at the playoffs as a wildcard team, and we got that. It is all about the experience. We are a very young team and this opportunity is something that these girls will always take with them. Hopefully we will grow from this for next year so we are not so nervous going into the big game next time around."

Caddo Magnet controlled much of the possession with quick one-touch passing and use of the width of the field, but had a difficult time cracking St. Amant’s defense led by Tana Bourgeois and Nicholi Rowell.  Goalkeeper Samantha Jackson had seven major saves including three game changing plays.

Senior Kayla Flenniken and sophmore Brittney Lambert floated all over the field playing man-to-man on Caddo Magnet’s top player and effectively denied her any chance to play the ball throughout the game.

St. Amant finishes the season 8-12-2 after managing to continue their playoff appearance streak of 15 straight seasons.
