Hope Youth Development Inc. hosted the 2010 Regional NBA Fitness Competition on Jan 9 at Lowery Elementary School. It was the only regional event in the state of Louisiana to represent the New Orleans Hornets team market. Winners were from left, front; Danisha Davis of  Assumption, Destin Franklin of New Roads, Holly Weaver of Gulfport, Miss. and Tenell McDonald of Lafayette. Back row;  Ronald Whittington Jr. of Donaldsonville, Johnell Lane of Gonzales, Stephanie Jackson of Lafayette and  Alexander Wicker of  New Roads. First place winners’ scores will be matched against kids from all 28 NBA markets and the top two in each age group will compete in all-exspense paid trip to Dallas to compete in conjunction to the NBA?All-Star game. “We would like to thank the 130 kids that showed up for the Fit Clinic and the 32 kids that competed in the competition,” Hope Youth Development Inc. director Mark Peters said. “With the good turn out, Donaldsonville will probably host again next year and we look forward to more participating.  Also attending was the many volunteers and WNBA player Allison Robinson of the Seattle Storn basketball team, pictured with Peters.
