St. Amant’s Martin commits to ULL

Marvin Martin

St. Amant lineman Marvin Martin committed to Louisiana-Lafayette during an official recruiting trip this weekend, Gators coach David Oliver confirmed.

Martin, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior, picked the Cajuns over a list of schools that included Arkansas State, McNeese State and Southern. He probably will play on the offensive line in college.

“Before his senior season, Marvin was mainly a defensive lineman for us,” Oliver said. “I think him playing both sides of the ball really opened eyes for some people.”

Martin earned first-team all-district recognition on the offensive line last season. His lifts in the power clean, bench press and squat combine for 1,375 pounds, the highest mark on the squad.

“He’s the strongest kid to go through our program in a while,” Oliver said. “I think he’s a guy who physically will be able to contribute.”
