Dunn, Wright selected Class 2A All-State honorable mention

Donaldsonville’s Bryant Dunn and Dwight Wright were recently named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State team for the second consecutive season.

Dunn, a senior running back, and Wright, a senior offensive lineman were both named to the honorable mention team.

The Tigers’ leading rusher a year ago, Dunn duplicated his junior season by rushing for rushed for  1,662 yards on 195 carries to go with 19 touchdowns. He went over the century mark eight times and had a career high 323 rushing yards against Dunham. Dunn also caught 14 receptions for 117 yards and one touchdown and threw for four more scores on 5-of-8 passing for 122 yards.

A starter since he was a freshmen, Wright helped paved the way for the Tigers to rush for 3,134 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Donaldsonville was the District 7-2A runner-up and finished 9-2 after falling to Riverside Academy in the Class 2A bi-district playoffs.

Many quarterback D.J.?Palmer was named Outstanding Player on offense and John Curtis lineman Walker Ashburn was named Outstanding Player on defense. Menard’s Freddie Hallman was selected Coach of the Year.
