Four claim titles at Tara Christmas Tournament

East Ascension’s Thomas Turner won the 135-pound championship finals at the Tara Christmas Tournament this weekend.

BATON?ROUGE – Four local wrestlers claimed titles at the annual Tara Christmas Tournament this weekend.

East Ascension’s Thomas Turner, St. Amant’s Alex LaValley and Jacob Lindekugel and Dutchtown’s Aaron Carbo all won championship finals.

St. Amant’s Derrian Paxton and Brett Howell, East Ascension’s Jon Karrer and Mike Luna and Dutchtown’s Matthew Hamilton also all won consolation finals bouts.

Turner pinned Catholic’s B. Rollins in 2:30 of the 135-pound final, while LaValley pinned Redemptorist’s G. Godson in 5:54 at 125 pounds, Lindekugel pinned Denham?Springs’ L.?LeBlanc in 4:35 at 145 pounds and Carbo pinned Istrouma’s J. Williams in 1:37 at 103 pounds.

Paxton won a five match rule over Catholic’s C. LaBauve at 112 pounds, while Howell won a five match rule over Central’s T. Hardin at 160 pounds.

Karrer won a five match rule over St. Michael’s M. Borne at 215 pounds, while Luna pinned Zachary’s B. Mason in 1:35 at 119 pounds and Hamilton pinned French Settlement’s R. Pitre in 21 seconds at 125 pounds.

East Ascension’s Adam Alfred lost an 11-6 decision to Istrouma’s J. Louis in the 189-pound championship finals and St. Amant’s Austin Jones fell to Istrouma’s R. Morris in 1:52 in the 130-pound consolation finals.
