Bourques claim EASL?Bass Club Tournament

BELLE?RIVER – Pete and Jay Bourque won the October EASL?Bass Club Tournament held out of Belle River Public Landing in the Atchafalaya River.

“We got lucky,”?Pete Bourque said, noting this was the first time he had ever won a club tournament.

The Bourque’s five-fish stringer weighed 12.64 pounds which was anchored by the Big Bass weighing in at 4.28 lbs.

Jim Hebert and Greg Cedotal took second place with four fish weighing 8.37 lbs. Third place went to Gary Louque and Tom Medeiros’ three fish that weighed 5.33 lbs.

The tournament was planned during a meeting at the home of Thad Bellow which included jambalaya prepared by Gonnie Gautreau.

The “Club Classic,” which requires members to fish five previous tournaments, was scheduled for?Nov. 14.

Members fish alone against others to compete for a larger purse containing money that was set aside all year for this tournament.
