4-H SHOOTING SPORTS CLUB OPENS RANGE

The Ascension Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Club held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 24 for its new shooting sports range. The range, open to 4-H students in the club, is off Airline Highway in Sorrento on property donated by the Ascension Parish School Board. Parish President Tommy Martinez cut the ribbon officially opening the range. The club has grown in recent years to include more than 60 4-H Club members who are interested in learning about archery, shotguns, rifle, pistols, air rifle and air pistols. The Ascension Parish 4-H Shooting Sport Club is under the direction of instructors Carrie Brown, Thad Bellow, Janet Kennison, Jamie Kennison, Marty Reed, Ron Stoehr, Robert Braud and Donene Sanders.
