Gonzales Youth Flag Football and Donaldsonville Youth Flag Football wrapped up its five-week season recently with over 100 kids participating. This was the fifth season in Donaldsonville and first in Gonzales. Everyone joined together in Gonzales on the last day June 18 for “Super Sunday” where kids played in front of fan and recieved trophies and certificates for participating. Hope Youth Development director Mark Peters said, “It was a hot summer but kids were fired up and ready to go each and every week even when it rained. We are proud of all the kids for participating, being active and playing team football. We look forward to expanding and attracting more players next year.” The players also caravaned to the first New Orleans Saints’ practice of the season at thier facility in Metairie where they got autographs and took pictures with the players.
