Cooper, Falcon named to Academic All-State composite teams

St. Amant senior forward Wesley Mueller was selected to the Class 5A Academic All-State first-team with a 3.6315 GPA.

BATON?ROUGE – Two local student-athletes were among 24 senior boys’ basketball players and 45 senior girls’ players named to the 23rd  Louisiana High School Athletic Association Composite Academic All-State basketball teams recently.

A total of 13 local student-athletes were named to the teams that consisted of 211 senior boys and 308 senior girls.

Ascension Chritian center Markia Cooper and Ascension?Catholic guard Allison Falcon headlined the group by being named to the composite girls’ basketball team both with grade point averages of 4.0.

St. Amant forward Wesley Mueller was named to the Class 5A first-team with a 3.6315 GPA, while teammates, guard Jeffrey St. Pierre and forward Nicholas Morris were named honorable mention with 3.8571 and 3.3022 GPAs, respectively.

Ascension Catholic guard Daniel LeBoeuf made the Class 1A first-team with a 3.8163 GPA and teammate Jess Daze` was named honorable mention with a 3.4897 GPA.

St. Amant forward Kaleigh Babin and guard Megan Poore were named to the Class 5A honorable mention team with GPAs of 3.8305 and 3.1652, respectively.

Ascension Catholic center Krystal Knight and forward Jasmin Dominique were also named to the Class 1A honorable mention team with GPAs of 3.9183 and 3.0, respectively.

Donaldsonville center Laneisha Stephens and forward Ashley Suel were named to the Class 2A honorable mention team with GPAs of 3.1566 and 3.6363, respectively.

The composite teams were honored during  All-Star games March 21 at  H.O. West Field House on the campus of Louisiana College in Pineville.

St. Amant senior guard Jeffery St. Pierre was selected to the Class 5A Academic All-State honorable mention team with a 3.8571 GPA.
