Spartans stay alive despite loss

Staff reports

RESERVE - East Ascension failed to capitalize Hahnville’s loss to St. Amant with a 10-9 defeat at the hands of East St. John Tuesday afternoon.

“We gave them too many hits and we didn’t pitch too well,” East Ascension head coach Wayne Grenfell said. “If we don’t take care of business, we are out.”

The Spartans remain in fourth place in District 6-5A standings with one game remaining. EA needs to beat East St. John Thursday and hope St. Amant sweeps Hahnville to tie for third place and an automatic playoff berth which will likely be decided by a one-game playoff.
