Destrehan shuts out Gators for sweep; remain atop standings

DESTREHAN - Joshua Rochelle pitched a one-hitter and hit  a two-run home run to lead Destrehan to a 4-0 win over St. Amant in District 6-5A play Thursday afternoon at Wildcat Park.

With the win, Destrehan (16-10-1, 8-1) sweeps St. Amant (17-11, 3-6) for the second straight year.

Rochelle (7-2) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before losing it on a one-out double by pinch hitter Daniel St. Pierre. Rochelle faced only three batters over the minimum and struckout eight.

In the first inning, Patrick Roth was hit by a pitch with two outs and Kurt McCune’s double put the Wildcats on the board.

Sam Carriere reached on a bunt single and scored on Roth's RBI double in the fourth inning before Rochelle’s homer.
