Lady Spartans cruise by ESJ to finish in third place

RESERVE - East Ascension scored multiple runs in each of the first three innings and the seventh inning to cruise by East St. John 11-1 in District 6-5A play Tuesday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Park.

The victory assured the Lady Spartans of a third place finish in district standings and  a Class 5A playoff berth.

Rachel LeCoq and Chelsea LeBlanc combined for 20 strikeouts surrendering one run on one hit and one walk.

East Ascension (16-12, 6-4) pounded 16 hits taking control from the onset and was able to utilize a number of underclassmen.

LeCoq got the win striking out 12 over four innings. LeBlanc struckout eight in three innings of relief.

Tiffany Robinson led the hit parade going 5 for 5 with three doubles and four RBIs, while Olivia Maher was 3 for 4 with a double and two runs, Jade St. Pierre was 2 for 3 with one RBI and Brooke Courville was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs.

Kacie Palmer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Whitnee Marchand was 1 for 2 with one RBI and one run, Evan Babin was 1 for 3 with two runs, Brandi Cedotal was 1 for 3 with one run and Shelby Young scored one run.
