Lady Griffins drop Destrehan to wrap up district play

GEISMAR?- Dutchtown scored single runs in four of the first five innings to shutout Destrehan 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at Lady Griffin Park.

The Lady Griffins wrapped up District 6-5A play and sit in fourth place in standings. Dutchtown (17-11, 5-5) will await its fate when Class 5A brackets are released today.

Alexi Reynolds picked up the win on the mound striking out 10 over seven innings allowing three hits and walking two.

Desiree Harvey took the loss surrendering four runs on seven hits and five walks.

Harvey hit Amanda Vicknair to open the bottom of the first inning before walking Mackenzie Kohler. Reynolds’ single put Dutchtown ahead 1-0.

Averi Parnell connected on a solo home run to open the bottom of the second inning.

Justine Tureau singled with two outs in the fourth inning and stole second before scoring on an error.

Reynolds walked to open the bottom of the fifth inning and courtesy runner Carly Melancon scored on Faydra Hall’s single.

Reynolds, Parnell, Tureau and Vicknair were each 1 for 3 for Dutchtown.
