Traction 14U wins “Marsh Madness” tourney title

Traction’s 14U baseball team recently won the “Marsh Madness” tournament by defeating the Baton Rouge Raiders 6-0, Lake Charles Thunder 10-7, Louisiana Tigers 12-3, Baton Rouge Raiders 5-2 and Lake Charles Thunder 9-1.

Cody Campo started in Saturday afternoon’s game against the Raiders and was releived by Cadin Lawless and Eddie White, who combined limited Baton Rouge to two hits.

Traction scored nine runs in the first inning to defeat the Thunder Saturday evening. Lawless and David Elias each hit double, while Austin Ourso hit a home run. White, Elias and Ourso teamed for the win on the mound.

Traction earned the top seed in the championship bracket with the victory over Louisiana Sunday. Cole Stapler relieved Trace Trahan to help secute the victory striking out four in two 1/3 inning. Elias closed out the game with a home run.

In the semifinal game, Ourso struckout five in four and 1/3 innings and Lawless gave up no hits in one 1/3 innings of releif. Tyler Randall and Elias each hit doubles and Stapler added a home run.

Lawless surrendered just two hits in the championship game to pick up the victory. Traction scored five runs in the fifth inning to open the game up.
