Gravelle claims Southeast Regional Folkstyle title

Austin Gravelle, of Dutchtown High, recently won a gold medal for first place at the Southeast Regional Folkstyle Championships in Orange Park, Fla. after going undefeated in the 135-pound Cadet weight class.

The Ascension Titan’s Wrestling Club was represented by Dutchtown High’s Austin Gravelle recently.

Gravelle wrestled in the 135 pound Cadet weight class at the Southeast Regional Folkstyle Championships in Orange Park, Fla. 

In his first match, Gravelle registered a 19-3 technical fall over Will Hobbs of Team Georgia.  A technical fall is when one wrestler attains a 15 point advantage over his opponent.  

In his second match, Gravelle dominated Tyler Compton of Florida’s Pin-N-Win Club.  Gravelle was able secure a quick take down of Compton resulting in a 33 second pin. 

Gravelle’s third match was another quick pin in 53 seconds over a quality Team Florida opponent, Bryson Dains. 

By going undefeated, Gravelle was the undisputed Cadet 135 weight class champion and was awarded the prestigious gold medal.

The Ascension Wrestling Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Dutchtown High wrestling room.
