EA sweeps EATEL Spartan Invitational

St. Amant’s Wayne Douglas wins the triple jump with a lead of 46-05 1/2 at the EATEL Spartan Invitational Saturday morning. Douglas also won the long jump and was named Outstanding Field Performer.

East Ascension won only one boys’ event but had 14 place in the top three while winning nine events on the girls’ side to sweep the EATEL Spartan Invitational Saturday at East Ascension.

The Spartans scored 116 points for the boys’ crown edging St. Amant’s 111. Thibodaux placed third with 98 points, followed by Redemptorist’s 69, St. Michael’s 57, Broadmoor’s 55 and Denham Springs’ 50.

East Ascension racked up 153 points in the girls’ events to defeat St. Amant’s 140. Thibodaux placed third with 84 points, followed by St. Michael’s 63, Broadmoor’s 62, Denham Springs’ 22 and Redemportist’s 16.

St. Amant’s Wayne Douglas won two events in the field to be named Outstanding Field Performer, while teammate Bruce Mathison was named Outstanding Track Performer after winning two races.

East Ascension’s Lynnika Pitts won three events in the field to be named the girls’ Outstanding Field Performer.

Douglas won both the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 21-05 and 46-05 1/2 and placed third in the 110 meter hurdles crossing in 15.89.

Mathison won the 400 meter dash in 52.78 and the 800 meter run in 2:07.95, while also being a member of the Gators’ 1,600 meter winning relay team that crossed in 3:43.97.

Pitts swept the three jumps with leaps of 5-02 in the high jump, 16-11 1/2 in the long jump and 36-07 in the triple jump while also being a member of the Lady Spartans’ winning 400 meter relay team that finished in 50.35.

East Ascension’s lone boys winner was Kadarius Williams who took the high jump with a leap of 6-02.

East Ascension’s Lane Braud placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.79, while St. Amant’s Thomas Bourgeois was fifth in 17.52. Braud also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles in 41.45 while Bourgeois crossed in 44.79 for fourth place.

Braud placed third in the long jump with a leap of 20-03, while teammate Jermain Pitts was sixth with a jump of 19-00 3/4. Braud also placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 39-10.

East Ascension’s DeAndre Jacobs placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.15. St. Amant’s Grady Miles was fourth in 11.71, while teammate Tre` Vaughn was fifth in 11.75.

East Ascension’s Q’Dareus Lomas placed second in the 200 meter dash crossing in 23.85 ahead of teammate Justin Pelle’s time of 24.12 and St. Amant’s Jaylin LeBlanc’s time of 24.22.

East Ascension’s Justin Guillory placed second in the 1,600 meter run crossing in 4:45.59 ahead of teammate Dillon Truax’s time of 4:49.06. St. Amant’s Nick Morris crossed in 4:52.23 for fifth place. Guillory also placed third in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:48 ahead of Truax’s time of 12:03 which placed sixth.

East Ascension’s 400 meter relay team of Jacobs, Lomas, Briscoe Davis and Jamarkus Jarvis placed second in 44.34, while St. Amant’s team of Douglas, Miles, Vaughn and Jay Gipson was fourth in 44.86.

East Ascension’s 1,600 meter relay team of Jacobs, Ursin, Ryan Moll and Damien Banner took second in 3:44.40.

St. Amant’s Michael Farrior took second in the high jump with a leap of 6-02, while Davis was fourth with a jump of 5-10.

St. Amant’s Colten Allen placed second in the discus with a throw of 27-08 1/2, while East Ascension’s Keith Fleming took third with a throw of 27-04 and St. Amant’s Chase Hitchcock was sixth clearing 21-05 1/2.

St. Amant’s Marvin Martin placed third in the shot put throwing 42-11 1/2.

St. Amant’s 800 meter relay team of Miles, Gipson, LeBlanc and Jarren Keller placed third in 1:37.93.

East Ascension’s Sheldon Ursin was fourth in the 800 meter run crossing in 2:15.22 just ahead of St. Amant’s Shane Laurent’s time of 2:15.82.

East Ascension’s Trey Griggs placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 138-11, while St. Amant’s Will Downey was sixth with a throw of 137-02 3/4.

Moll placed fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.08.

East Ascension’s Nick Landry placed sixth in the pole vault clearing 10-06.

On the girls side, East Ascension’s 400 meter relay team of Pitts, Jasmine Briley, Kyra Cushenberry and Nakiya Smith won with a time of 50.35.  East Ascension’s 800 meter relay team of Briley, Smith, Leah Sparrow and Karleh Wilson also won with a time of 1:49.79.

The Lady Spartans’ 1,600 meter relay team of Wilson, Myriah Kichen, Brittany Norwood and Shantanacia Maxson also won in 4:30.38. St. Amant’s team of Amanda Jackson, Lara Hutchinson, Kaitlyn McClure and Whitney Clouatre placed second in 4:34.38.

Jackson won the 300 meter hurdles in 50.53 and placed second in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.06. St. Amant’s Marla Heintze was third in the 100 meter hurdles crossing in 18.23, while East Ascension’s Tracy Johnson was third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.46.

East Ascension’s Marissa Sanchez won the 800 meter run in 2:37.38 and the 1,600 meter run in 5:44.06.

St. Amant’s McClure won the 400 meter dash in 1:05.34, while East Ascension’s Shantanacia Maxson and Brittany Norwood placed third and fourth in 1:07.77 and 1:07.78.

St. Amant’s Joleigh Hartman won the javelin with a throw of 101-08, while teammate Kaleigh Babin was second with a throw of 90-03 1/2.

East Ascension’s Alexis Ruth won the discus with a throw of 105-11, while St. Amant’s Kristina Kling and Holly LeBeau placed second and third with throws of 85-02 1/2 and 80-03.

St. Amant’s Elena Villar won the shot put with a throw of 33-05 1/2, while teammate Sami Marchand was second with a throw of 30-10 3/4.

St. Amant’s Shelbi Guillory won the pole vault clearing eight feet while teammate Samantha Shinn was second with a vault of 7-06.

Briley placed second in the 100 meter dash in 12.57, while teammate Nakiya Smith was fourth in 13.17. Briley also took second in the 200 meter dash in 26.74, while Smith was fourth in 27.91.

Cushenberry also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 33-10 3/4, while Acy was third with a jump 32-08.50.

St. Amant’s Kaylyn Acy placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4-10, while teammate Cydney Walters was fifth with a jump of 4-08.

St. Amant’s 400 meter relay team of Jackson, Acy, Megan Jones and Alyssa LaBauve placed fourth in 54.19.

St. Amant’s Brittnee Lambert was fourth in the 800 meter run in 2:41.75, while East Ascension’s Myriah Kichen was fifth in 2:48.42.

Hutchinson and teammate Lexie Stone placed fourth and fifth in the 1,600 meter run with times of 6:21.72 and 6:26.84, while East Ascension’s Amanda Gibbs placed sixth in 6:40.12. Gibbs placed third in the 3,200 meter run in 15:16.

St.?Amant’s Amanda Jackson places second in the 100 meter hurdles behind Thibodaux’s Rahshika Thomas with a time of 17.06. Jackson won the 300 meter hurdles in 50.53.
