East Ascension splits with Redemptorist in prep tennis match

East Ascension’s boys took advantage of two forfiet wins to defeat Redemptorist, 3-2, in Baton?Rouge Prep Tennis League play at Gonzales Municipal Park Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Spartans fell, 4-1, in girls action with three matches going into three sets.
East Ascension’s Jade Villneuve and Christian Danielson defeated Michael Nqyuen and Ryan Sanchez, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 1 doubles play to secure victory for the Spartans. Redemptorist forfeited two doubles matches.
Jacob Shoptaugh defeated East Ascension Nathan Gibbs 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match. Redemptorist’s Jason Loupe also defeated Mason Andrus 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play.
East Ascension’s Madison Kling and Katherine Townsend picked up the Lady Spartans’ only win defeating Heather Termini and Melissa Meadow 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles play.
Redemptorist’s Deanna Johnson needed three sets to defeat Amber Waldron 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles slot.
Samantha Marry defeated East Ascension’s Lucy Williams 6-2, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play.
Redemptorist’s Ashley Casagrande and Lauren Dupuiy also needed three sets to defeat Sharonda Martin and Shallie Chrysler 6-7, 6-4, (10-5).
East Ascension’s Jackie Fellows and Helena Barnes also forced a third set falling to Bailey Montero and Jackie Pecquet 6-3, 0-6, 7-6.
