Dutchtown sweeps Griffin Relays on track and field

GEISMAR - Dutchtown won eight events in girls’ competition and three in boys to sweep the Health Quest Physical Therapy Griffin Relays Saturday evening at Griffin Field.
Dutchtown scored 91 points in the boys’ competition to defeat Donaldsonville, who finished with 79 points. Woodlawn was third with 77 points followed by Port Allen with 72 and East Ascension with 71. Ascension Catholic placed ninth with 17 points.
In the girls’ competition, Dutchtown’s 132 points defeated East Ascension’s 114. Lutcher was third with 87 points followed by Port Allen’s 53 and Ascension Catholic’s 46.
Dutchtown got wins from Shaquille Brown in the 800, Jeff Boudreaux in the 1600 and Boudreaux, Brown, Alex Braud and Blake Dowdy in the 1,600 relay.
The Lady Griffins also got wins from Ka’Nesheia Cobbins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Bria Batiste in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Maureen Gross in the discus, Brittany Lacy in the shot put, Shelby Jones in the 1,600 meter run and Michelle Landry in the pole vault.
East Ascension’s Lynnika Pitts won three events for the Lady Spartans.
Brown crossed in 2:00.61 to edge Dowdy’s time of 2:03.10. Boudreaux’s time of 4:32.94 was before Braud’s time of 4:40 for second. The Griffins crossed in 3:30.03 in the relay ahead of Woodlawn’s time of 3:30.03.
East Ascension’s Lane Braud won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.37 and 41.38.
Donaldsonville’s Titus Howard was second in both events with times of 15.73 and 42.51 while
East Ascension’s Nick Landry was fourth in the 110 crossing in 17.56 and sixth in the 300 with a time of 43.85.
Donaldsonville’s Devon Breaux won the high jump with a leap of six feet. Ascension Catholic’s Jace Schexnaydre was third with a jump of 5-10, while East Ascension’s Kadarius Williams placed fourth clearing 5-8.
Dutchtown’s 400 meter relay team of Effrem Reed, Marcus Godfrey, Greg Provo and Leonard Wyatt placed second in 43.87, while Donaldsonville’s team of Justin Breaux, Jordan Rosemond, Tre Brown and Devonta Wilson was third in 43.91. Donaldsonville was third in the 800 meter relay with a time of 1:31.89, while Dutchtown was fifth in 1:32.60.
Donaldsonville’s Shaqueel Babin placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.71. East Ascension’s Damian Banner and Ryan Moll placed third and fourth with times of 54.13 and 54.30, while Dutchtown’s Wade Duplessis was sixth in 55.11.
Justin Breaux placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.27, while Brown was fourth in 23.30 ahead of Provo in 23.36 and East Ascension’s Justin Pelle in 23.51.
East Ascension’s Dillon Truax placed second in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 11:00.44. Chris Thompson and Casey Green of Dutchtown and East Ascension’s Garrett Tregre all placed with times of 11:05.61, 11:07.84 and 11:35.93.
Dutchtown’s Richard Buckland and Terry Hughes placed second and third in the discus with throws of 129 feet and 119-04 ahead of East Ascension’s Wade Julien and Keith Fleming’s tosses of 116-03 and 113-05.
Ascension Catholic’s Joe Canatella cleared 10-06 to finish second in the pole vault.
East Ascension’s Trey Griggs placed third in the javelin with a throw of 147-08 1/2, while
Dutchtown’s Madison Rought was fifth with a throw of 138-01 and Ascension Catholic’s Joshua Longnecker’s throw of 137-01 1/2 placed fifth.
East Ascension’s Jermain Pitts placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 40-4, while Wyatt was sixth clearing 36-11 1/2.
Justin Breaux also placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.94 ahead of Reed’s time of 11.13.
Devon Breaux also placed third in the long jump clearing 19-01 1/2, while Dutchtown’s Landon Collins was fifth with a leap of 18-11 1/2.
Donaldsonville’s Denzel Butler placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, ahead of
Dutchtown’s Shawn Cook and Grant Medine’s throws of 44-9 and 43-01 1/2.
East Ascension’s Justin Guillory placed fourth in the 1,600 meter run in 4:53.73.
Donaldsonville’s team of Babin, Rosemond, Tyree Canty and Devon Breaux placed fourth in the 1,600 meter relay with a time of 3:39.83.
Ascension Catholic’s Taylor Cavalier placed fifth in the 800 crossing in 2:11.47.
Lynnika Pitts cleared 5-06 in the high jump, leaped 36-06 in the triple jump and jumped 17-10 1/4 in the long jump to win all three events.
Cobbins crossed in 12.33 to win the 100 and 23.22 in the 200. Batiste won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.34 and the 300 in 50.71.
Gross’ throw of 109 feet won the discus ahead of East Ascension’s Alexis Ruth’s throw of 104-4. Ascension Catholic’s Chelsea Zeringue placed fourth with a throw of 78-07.
Lacy won the shot put with a throw of 35-5. Ascension Catholic’s Krystal Knight was third with a throw of 29-03.
Jones won the 1,600 meter run in 5:33.99 ahead of East Ascension’s Marissa Sanchez, who crossed in 5:47.35. Dutchtown’s Samantha Faulkner was third in 6:17.35, while East Ascension’s Amanda Gibbs placed sixth in 6:46.33.
Landry cleared 8-03 to win the pole vault ahead of teammate Theresa Kaaihue, who vaulted seven feet. Ascension Catholic’s Madison Canatella placed fifth clearing 6-06.
East Ascension’s 400 relay team of Kyra Cushenberry, Jasmine Briley, Nakiya Smith and Leah Sparrow won in 50.74 ahead of Dutchtown’s team of Cobbins, Batiste, Alyncia Aruther and Theresa Kaaihue who crossed in 51.14. Donaldsonville placed fourth in 54.26 and Ascension Catholic was sixth in 55.45.
East Ascension’s 1,600 meter relay team of Brittany Norwood, Karleh Wilson, Myriah Kinchen and Shantanacia Maxson won in 4:30.31, while Dutchtown placed third in 4:36.72.
Cushenberry placed second in the long jump clearing 16-04, while Batiste was third with a leap of 15-05. Cushenberry also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 33-05 1/2.
Zeringue placed second in the javelin with a throw of 101-06, while Dutchtown’s Ryan Hamilton was fourth with a throw of 89-03, Donaldsonville’s Bria Sutherland placed fifth clearing 87-03 1/2 and Ascension Catholic’s Alisa Richard placed sixth with a throw of 87-02.
Ascension Catholic’s Katherine Capone placed second in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.
Dutchtown’s Emily Rezac placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.41 ahead of teammate Brooke Bahlinger’s time of 2:35.57. Kinchen was fifth in 2:50.72.
Briley placed second in the 100 meter dash crossing in 12.67, while Smith was fourth in 12.99 and Donaldsonville’s Kendra Coleman placed sixth in 13.42.
Ascension Catholic’s Mary Dubueil placed second in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 51.64.
Norwood placed second the 400 dash in 1:06.49 and Maxson placed fifth in 1:22.11.
Ascension Catholic’s Beth Bellina placed third in the 3,200 meter run in 15:40.
Donaldsonville placed third in the 800 meter relay in 1:54.09, ahead of East Ascension and Ascension Catholic’s times of 1:55.70 and 1:56.15.
Briley placed fifth in the 200 in 27.80, while Smith was sixth in 28 seconds.
