Dutchtown sweeps EA in prep tennis league match

None of five matches went to a third set tie-breaker as the Dutchtown girls defeated East Ascension, 4-1, in Baton Rouge Prep Tennis League play at Gonzales Municipal Park Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins also defeated East Ascension, 4-1, in boys’ action with two matches going into decisive sets.
East Ascension’s only win in the girls’ matches game from Katherine Townsend who defeated Chelsea Cruthirds 6-1, 6-4, in the No. 1 spot. Dutchtown’s Anna Hernandez coasted past Amber Waldron at No. 2, taking a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Dutchtown’s Tess McGraw and Christina Johnson opened doubles play with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Madison Kling and Sharonda Morris. Lady Griffins’ Kaylie Dinning and Brandi Stafford swept Helena Barnes and Jasmine Miller 6-2, 7-5 and Peyton Fail and McCall Blank of Dutchtown also swept at No. 3 over Jalesa Brown and Deandria Fernandez 6-2, 6-3.
On the boys’ side, Dutchtown’s Blake Cowart defeated Nathan Gibbs 7-5, 7-5 in the No. 1 spot of singles play. Griffin Daniel Adler needed three sets to defeat East Ascension’s Mason Andrus 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 2.
Dutchtown’s Stephan Sayer and Sam Schwatz got a straight set, 6-1, 6-2, win over Trey Griggs and Blake Hill in doubles’ top seed. Samuel Moore and Austin Martinez also swept Josh Mobley and Jade Villeneuve 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot while Christian Danielson and Alfonso Rodriguez needed three sets to defeat East Ascension’s Ivan Ayala and Jacob Whitson 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Dutchtown hosts Dunham Monday at Gonzales Municipal Park, while East Ascension travels to Denham Springs at North Park.
