Spartans hold off Thibodaux

ST. AMANT - East Ascension scored two runs in the top of the second inning and held off Thibodaux in the bottom of the third for a 2-0 victory in the third game of the St. Amant Jamboree Saturday afternoon at Gator Park.

Thibodaux starter Brent Bonvillian struck out Adam Trahan and Ben Robinson in the top of the first retiring the side in order.

Spartan starter Alec Singletary struck out lead off hitter Brandon Thibodeaux and Shae Hebert in the bottom half to send the Tigers down in order

Bonvillian struck out Jared Kleinpeter to open the second inning before Tim Robinson lined to center and Miles Holley drew a walk. After a double steal Troy Gautreau lined out to short to plate a run. Singletary and Cortland Giardina then drew consecutive walks to load the bases before Holley scored on a pass ball. Trahan drew a walk to load the bases again before Levin Fairchild flied out to center.

Cody Dufrene lined to center to open the bottom half before catcher Trahan caught him stealing on a throw to second baseman Giardina. Klienpeter bobbled Michael Steib’s liner to third before Chase Granier grounded out to second and Singletary struckout Trey Clement.

Steib struckout Ben Robinson and Klienpeter to open the third inning before Tim Robinson grounded through the infield but Holley struckout to end the Spartans’ inning.

Giardina struckout Brian Kraemer and Andrew Savoie to open the bottom half before hitting Matt Labat. Nick Ber then lined a double pass third before Randall Daigle grounded out to Kleinpeter at third to end the game.
