Gators crush East Ascension

ST. AMANT - St. Amant scored five runs in the second inning on way to a 10-2 victory over East Ascension in the final game of the St. Amant Jamboree Saturday afternoon at Gator Park.

St. Amant starter Dane Morin surrendered a two-out walk to Ben Robinson in the bottom of the first but Jared Klienpeter grounded out to third baseman Lee Elisar to end the Spartans’ inning.

Dillon Morin drew a lead off walk off East Ascension starter John DeArmond before DeArmond snagged Elisar’s grounder and threw out the lead runner. After Caleb Templet popped up to first baseman Tim Robinson in foul territory, Kenny Wilkins crushed a two-run shot over the center field wall to give the Gators a 2-0 lead. Kahn Petite popped up to second to end the inning.

Dane Morin retired East Ascension in order in the second inning.

DeArmond surrendered consecutive walks to Dylan Delaune and Adrian Bourgeois to open the bottom half before striking out A.J. Bonadona. Alex Russell then lined to center to load the bases before Dillon Morin drew a walk to plate a run. Elisar lined to left to plate two more runs as runners advanced on the throw. Wilkins drew a two-out walk to load the bases again before Petite lined to right center to put St. Amant ahead 7-0.

Dillon Morin struckout DeArmond to open the third before walking Cortland Giardina. Adam Trahan and Levin Fairchild lined consecutive singles to load the bases before Ben Robinson struck out. Dillon Morin then hit Jared Klienpeter and walked Bradly Day to cross East Ascension’s two runs before striking out Austin Waguespack.

St. Amant added three runs in the bottom half when Dillon Savoy and Jake Bordelon scored on pass balls and Tyler Guillory’s double to left plated Justin Manton.
