GEISMAR - Chelsea Cruthirds and Lexi Gibbs each had hat tricks as Dutchtown remained undefeated in district play with a 7-0 victory over Hahnville Friday night at Griffin Field.

“I think the team has done what we have asked them to do,” Dutchtown head coach Anant Vyas said. “They are executing the things we do in practice. With a dual offense like (Chelsea and Lexi) and a midfield that is also strong, we have multiple people to guard for defenders and somebody is always open.”

Dutchtown (16-3-2, 6-0) moves on to face East Ascension Tuesday and St. Amant Friday in quest for a second consecutive undefeated district record.

“We kind of lost our identify in what we were trying to accomplish,” Hahnville head coach Shawn Crochet said. “We kept it wider than we wanted to and left a big gap in the middle of the field. We were able to pressure the way we wanted to but they have some quality girls that can finish up top and that made a big difference. Right now, the way they play, they are going to be a tough one to catch for any team in the district.”

Gibbs’ turnaround from Lindi Robicheaux with 24 minutes left in the first half put Dutchtown on the board. The Lady Griffins out shot Hahnville 8-1 before but could not get on the board.

“They kept a lot of people back defensively but we were real patient with the movement of the ball trying to find the right time to finish,” Vyas said.

Rachel Jimenez’ breakaway from Robicheaux was just high before Gibbs dribbled to the right corner and fed Robicheaux on a cross with 16:36 left in the first half to put Dutchtown ahead 2-0.

Cruthirds then took a pas from Gibbs in six minutes later before Annie Etzel fed Cruthirds inside a minute later to put the Lady Griffins ahead 4-0 after Erica Sweeney’s cross to Gibbs was wide left.

Cruthirds completed her hat trick eight minutes into the second half.

Gibbs drove half the field for her second goal 12 minutes later and completed her hat trick on a header off Robicheaux’s corner kick six minutes later.
