St. Amant’s Dana Songe heads in one of her four goals in the first half of the Lady Gators’ 10-0 victory Tuesday night.

ST. AMANT - St. Amant got four first half goals from Dana Songe on way to a 10-0 District 6-I victory over East St. John Tuesday night at The Pit.

“We needed that,” St. Amant head coach Jason Naquin said.  It was nice to come out like that for senior night. East St. John is trying to build a program and you never take anything for granted but we thought we would have our chances going into it. It was a tune up for Destrehan and Hahnville who could mess up our world unexpectedly.”

“We had them working the ball around. They had instructions to do things a little differently to balance our offense a little more. We are happy about that because it is hard for some teams to finish sometimes. Hopefully that translates down the road against Dutchtown and EA.”

St. Amant (4-1) was coming off their first district loss to Dutchtown Friday and now must travel to Destrehan and Hahnville back to back.

The Lady Gators also got two goals from Joleigh Hartman, while Erica Arnold, Lexi Crews, Cindy Guiterrez and Elaina Vercher. Samantha Jackson provided three saves in the goal.

Terri Franklin had 15 saves for East St. John (0-5).

Songe’s first goal came less than two minutes into the contest. Her second came seven minutes later on a header off Hartman’s corner kick.

Crews’ drive a minute later put the Lady Gators ahead 3-0 less than 10 minutes into the contest. Franklin stopped Amanda Jackson’s shot before Arnold’s drive for a goal with 27:44 left to play in the first half.

Hartman dribbled in a shot from the left two minutes later before Franklin deflected Songe’s attempt. Songe completed the hat trick with a shot off a deflection with 21 minutes remaining and added another three minutes later off Hartman’s free kick.

Hartman headed in a pass just in front of the goal from Arnold in the right corner to give the Lady Gators an 8-0 lead with 15:34 left to play.

Ahnle Dang’s shot off Danielle Barton’s corner kick was high before Franklin saved Sarah Rushing’s consecutive shots. Franklin saved two drives from Arnold and one from Jackson before half-time.

Guiterrez and Vercher’s goals came in the second half.

St. Amant’s Sarah Rushing drives past East St. John’s Amber Remondet for a shot attempt in the first half of the Lady Gators’ 10-0 victory Tuesday night.
