Rummel over- comes Gators’ third quarter

METAIRIE – Rummel outscored St. Amant by the deciding margin in the fourth quarter Tuesday night on way to a 68-60 non-district victory at RHS’s gym.

St. Amant stormed out of the second half outscoring the Raiders 22-6 in the third quarter to knot it up 42-42 going into the final stanza but Rummel outscored the Gators 26-18 in the frame for the the victory.

Rummel led 20-7 after the first quarter before taking a 34-20 halftime lead.

St. Amant (15-3) was led by Brandon Morris with 24 points. Rashaun Claiborne added 19, while Nick Morris had 13. Jeff St. Pierre and Jacob Gauthier each had two.

Rummel (11-7) was led by M. Ursin with 20 points. M. Blanke and T. Prince each had 17, while B. Henry provided 10 and Z. Smith had four.

It was the Gators’ second consecutive loss after falling to East Ascension in the championship game of the Spartan Classic last Tuesday.

Nick Morris converted three 3-pointers for St. Amant, while Brandon Morris nailed two and Claiborne had one. The Gators host Catholic Friday night at the Gold Dome.
