EA’s big third quarter holds off Lutcher

LUTCHER – East Ascension exploded out of the second half outscoring Lutcher by 16 points before holding on for a 50-48 non-district victory Tuesday night at LHS’ gym.

The Spartans outscored Lutcher 21-5 in the third quarter the Bulldogs were six better in the final frame.

Lutcher led 27-19 at halftime before East Ascension’s third quarter flourish.

East Ascension (18-2) was led by Corey Lane with 20 points. Kenny Varnado and Quinn Coco each added 11, while Gary Weber provided six and Kerry Weber had two.

Lutcher (12-6) was led by T. Jackson with 16 points. D. McColl added 14, while C. Richardson had eight, C. Taylor provided six and F. Thomas contributed four.

Lane nailed two 3-pointers for East Ascension and Varnado added another.

East Ascension hosts Belaire Friday at EAHS’ gym.
