DTHS’ Boudreaux, EA’s Sanchez lead locals at Division I state meet with top 20 finishes

NATCHITOCHES - Jeff Boudreaux set a new standard for the Dutchtown cross country team while a freshmen led East Ascension’s girls squad at the Louisiana High Athletic Association Division I meet at Northwestern State University Tuesday afternoon.

Boudreaux ran the course in 16 minutes, 10 seconds to place 14th, the highest finish by a Dutchtown runner. Dutchtown placed 10th as a team with 289 points. East Ascension came in 15th with 446 points and St. Amant 33rd with 930 points.

Catholic, with five runners in the top 20, captured the state title with 47 points. Jesuit was second with 99 points, followed by Brother Martin with 118, Walker with 136 and Lafayette with 238.

East Ascension freshmen Marissa Sanchez led the parish girls with a 17th place finish in 19:47.

Dutcthown took 14th overall with 394 points, while East Ascension was 18th with 568 points.

St. Joseph’s won the state title with 79 points, while St. Scholastic was second with 85 points. Mount Caramel finished third with 97 points followed by Russian with 139 points and Dominican with 147.

East Ascension got a 34th place finish from Justin Guilty in 16:39. Also scoring for the Spartans were Dill Truss (17:18, 70th), Daniel Espinoza (17:37, 89th), Garrett Tregre (18:09, 109th), Cortland Giardina (18:45, 148th), Nathan Gibbs (18:45, 149th) and Davis Normand (18:54, 156th).

Casey Green came in at 16:59 to place 48th for Dutchtown. Alex Braud was 65th in 17:15, Shaquille Brown 80th in 17:28 and Chris Thompson 82nd in 17:30. Blake Dowdy finished 173rd in 19:14, while Mitchell Spletto finished 174th in 19:15.

Nick Morris led St. Amant with a 91st-place time of 17:41. Chase Keller placed 200th in 19:48, while Cody Nickel was 203rd in 19:50, Trett Bourgeois was 218th in 20:14, John Petty was 229th in 20:34, Stephen Buckner was 256th in 21:33 and Jordy Allen was 259th in 21:44.

Catholic’s Philip Primeaux defeated Walker’s Paul Arthur 15:25-15:34 for the individual title.

Shelby Jones came in at 20:38 to place 45th for Dutchtown. Emily Rezac was 56th in 21:05, Kayla Cobb 89th in 22:11, April Tasker 112th in 23:06; Samantha Faulkner 122nd in 23:27 and Courtney Ryan 157th in 24:36.

East Ascension got an 84th place finish from Chelsea Griggs in 22:01. Also scoring for the Lady Spartans were Amanda Gibbs (24:01, 141st), Angela Aughement (25:07, 176th), Jaazhel Villegas (26:55, 209th), Sara Cornejo (220, 28:01).

Scoring for St. Amant were Sarah Parent who crossed in 25:28 for 186th place followed by Holly Auttosso in 26:18 for 197th and Kalyn Acy in 28:31 for 224th.

St. Scholastica’s Angela Laborde defeated Airline’s Rebecca Blubaugh 17:48-18:13 for the individual title.
