LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Imagine conservative lyrics
The late John Lennon was an accomplished composer, but his song "Imagine" had too much of a liberal bent to suit me.
So I offer my own "Imagine" with a more realistic - yet still a bit lofty - bent:
"Imagine there's no Islamist jihadists. That might be hard to do. Imagine all of our troops coming home soon, under beautiful skies of blue.
Imagine no hateful diatribes, laced with false charges like "homophobe" or "racist" or "bigot." But I guess it would be too much, to ask progressives to turn off that spigot.
Imagine being free from the left's burdensome progressive hold. And no more Michael Moore movies, with themes that are getting old.
You might say that I'm dreaming, but I hope my dreaming's not in vain. Come on everybody; board the liberty train.
Imagine no more abortions. That shouldn't be hard to do. Even some on the left say abortion is something that they would not do.
Imagine there's no broken homes, and no child abuse to flee. Imagine every child having a good mom and dad, living in security.
I know I might be dreaming, but I hope it's not in vain. Come on everybody; board the pro-family train.
Imagine genuine live-and-let-live, and some real-world give-and-take. Read the Thirteenth Amendment, and imagine being free to not bake a cake.
Imagine no more activist judges with contempt for you and me. Imagine a nationwide resurgence of what it really means to be free.
Imagine the Democrats in defeat. That's easy if you try. Hopefully, their reign is over and we'll be seeing better times.
I know I might be dreaming, but I hope it's not in vain. Come on everybody; board the liberty train."
