 Parents, guardians and community members:

In the coming days we will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, a time that is set aside each year for all of us to give thanks for our many blessings.  There’s no doubt that Ascension Parish Public Schools has much to give thanks for during this time of the year.

First, we have some of the most talented and dedicated teachers and staff working in our schools and across our district. Their commitment to excellence shows through each day in their work with and for our students, making Ascension Parish Public Schools one of the best school systems in the state and one that continues to achieve high national standards. I am proud and honored to work with each of them.

At the same time, we have some of the most dedicated parents in our school community.  We know that learning begins in the home, and the support of parents is an irreplaceable component of our educational effort here in Ascension Parish.

For the third year in a row, the state department of education has awarded Ascension Parish Schools an “A” rating for our overall performance.  Our District Performance Score of 106.9 earned our district the No. 4 ranking in the state.  At the same time, 16 of our 27 schools earned “A” grades, marking a significant increase from last year’s report, which awarded 12 schools an “A” grade.  This improvement has not occurred in a vacuum, but within a positive, collaborative environment built around student achievement.  I reference these letter grades because of what they represent-- a true, tangible indication of the success we are building together for the individual students in each of our schools.

Again, THANK YOU for the steadfast support you have given to the children in our community, to our teachers and staff, and to our school district. From all of us at Ascension Parish Schools, please accept our sincere appreciation and a heartfelt "Thank you."  We wish you a happy Thanksgiving as we begin this holiday season.

With kind regards,

Patrice Pujol, Ed.D.
