LETTER: Reader appreciates Lyle Johnson Alligator Bayou article

Staff Writer
Gonzales Weekly Citizen

On behalf of the “Save Alligator Bayou” team, I wanted to thank you so much for publishing Lyle Johnson’s excellent editorial on the controversy over draining this precious habitat. Thanks also to news editor Wade McIntyre and the rest of your staff for giving this issue the coverage we believe it so richly deserves.

I know owners Frank Bonifay and Jim Ragland are grateful for the support. They are also increasingly encouraged by the growing numbers of people who have joined the “Save Alligator Bayou” cause and are making their voices heard loud and clear.

The link to that group is http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=60622499521 on Facebook.

Of course, full information on all the resources Alligator Bayou has provided for the local area and thousands of school children and adults throughout the parish and indeed throughout the world, can be found at Alligator Bayou’s own Web site at www.alligatorbayou.com

In just a few short weeks, membership has grown to over 1,500, and in the past few days alone, our numbers have increased at a rate of more than 100 per day. With your continued support, we expect those numbers to grow even faster. Indeed, any assistance you might be able to provide in publicizing our Facebook group and Alligator Bayou’s Web site would be deeply appreciated.

Again, we are grateful to you, Mr. Johnson and Mr. McIntyre, for providing such timely and positive coverage at such a critical moment. If we can be of assistance, or provide additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact either Frank and Jim or those of us at “Save Alligator Bayou.”
