Pro Wrestling Week in Review: Believe in Evolution

Colden Fell

As the dust of Wrestlemania XXX settles, the WWE looks to their most extreme night of the year, Extreme Rules.

Monday night's episode of Raw was hectic to say the least. It was a night of action, drama and high stakes.

The WWE universe witnessed the first-round matches in the tournament to crown a new No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental title--currently held by Big E. The tournament featured Rob Van Dam vs. Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro vs. Mark Henry, Sheamus vs. Jack Swagger and Bad News Barret vs. Dolph Ziegler.

The matches were very entertaining, and all of the superstars involved gave their best efforts for a shot at the belt.

Fans witnessed Rob Van Dam, Cesaro, Barrett and Sheamus advance.

But that wasn't the only thing exciting about Monday night. Fan favorite John Cena issued an extreme challenge to Bray Wyatt.

Cena challenged Bray to a steel cage match so that it could remain a one-on-one situation. However, Bray stated that the other members of his family--Luke Harper and Eric Rowan--could very well get involved.

Harper and Rowan have found ways to enter matches that were supposed to be one on one before. At WWE's 2013 Summerslam, they interfered with an inferno match between Bray and Kane.

Cena needs to realize that they could still get inside of the cage. Outside interference can always happen.

The Authority also had a busy week involving The Shield.

Last week, The Shield helped Daniel Bryan escape The Authority, but they payed for it. The Authority made them battle 11 other superstars; it turned out to be a mugging.

When it seemed like The Shield was down and out, the WWE universe witnessed Evolution return with the team of Triple H, Batista and Rand Orton.

In the early 2000s, they were a part of Evolution with the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair; they were unstoppable. Holding every major title on Raw at some point, Evolution proved to be a dominant force.

With their return, it looks like there will be a six-man tag-team match at Extreme Rules. The match stipulation hasn't been made just yet, but it could become an elimination match.

Triple H's wife, Stephanie McMahon, gave Kane a talking to this week. She told him that he failed to take out Daniel Bryan three times and that he wasn't the "Big Red Monster" anymore.

As Kane took out his infamous red mask, he told Stephanie that he would take out Bryan once and for all. This could very well lead to Bryan defending his WWE World Heavyweight title against the monster at Extreme Rules.

This has the chance to be a very intense matchup with Kane and Bryan being former tag-team champions when they were together as "Team Hell-No."

Extreme Rules is looking to be a night of excitement and for next week's Raw, the WWE universe will definitely be tuning in to see what happens next.
