Even though Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency and said he's "strongly advising" people to evacuate, many in the area say they won't. I wanted to know why. Here's what a few folks told me:

• Shannon Cory, 37, of Gonzales, said: "For a category 1, I'm really not that worried about it."

• Veronica Sanchez, 60, of Sorrento, said: "I sit with an old lady and she's not leaving. My daugher, son-in-law and two grand kids are coming over."

• Bobby Singlepary, 53, of French Settlement, said: "I ain't scared. I stayed through Katrina and Gustav in my 22-foot camper. It rocked a little, that's all."

• Patrick, 51, of Convent, said: "I trust God; and, I rode out Gustav and and Katrina."

• Gary "Murph" Murphy, 62, of French Settlement, said: "I stayed through Gustav. That's been the worst one since I've been in my house - and that's been 20 years."

Did you evacuate? Let me know.
