Aikens III, Albert

A native and resident of Prairieville, he passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 71. A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 16 at Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home, Gonzales.

Babin, Kevelyn Paul

A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted for Mr. Kevelyn Paul Babin, age 81, at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church with Rev. Rubin Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday at Ourso Funeral Home Chapel and again on Wednesday morning at St. Mark Catholic Church from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am. A native and resident of Gonzales, Mr. Babin passed away at 2:36 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 of natural causes. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark Ushers Society, Seventh District Fire Department, The Jambalaya Association and was a lifetime follower and friend of the Na Na Sha Band. Mr. Babin was also retired from the Ormet Corporation located in Burnside, Louisiana. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta Gautreaux and husband Ruckle, Linda Martin and husband Kenny, Lisa Laurent and husband Brent, Laurie Miller, Lola Dunaway and husband Keith; sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Babin and wife Geri, Karl Babin; sisters, Rita Melancon, Ruth Duplessis, Hazel Melancon; sister-in-law, Deloris Babin; brother-in-law, Venonce Bourgeois; grandchildren, Klayton “Klay” and Andrea “Andi” Babin, Corey, Scott and Tiffany Gautreaux, Eric and Brooke Babin, Matthew, Amanda and Rebecca Martin, Travis and Shane Laurent, Taylor Miller Tarrow, Jace and Kaily Dunaway; great grandchildren, Jansen, Annabella, Luke, and Ethan Gautreaux and Keegan Cockrell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorita Lambert Babin; mother, Juliet Young Babin Mayers; father, Leus Babin; sisters, Evelyn “Totsy” Lambert, Elma “Shy” Bourgeois; brother, Robert “Boo” Babin and very special friend, Vivian Ausbon. Pallbearers were Klayton “Klay” Babin, Corey and Scott Gautreaux, Eric Babin, Matthew, Martin Travis and Shane Laurent. Jace Dunaway served as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Babin’s name to St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Boudreaux, Harold P. "Boo Boo"

A resident and native of Gonzales, he passed away at home at 9:00 am Saturday December 20, 2014. He was 82. He was a former owner of Boudreaux Texaco and Wrecker Service, Colonial Exxon and a former employee of the Ascension Parish Sheriff Dept. He was a Army Veteran of the Korean War. Harold was also a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program. Visiting was held at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St. on Tuesday Dec. 23. Visiting resume on on Wednesday Dec. 24 until service conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis.

Buker, Harold "Buck"

A resident of Pinola, MS, he passed away Thursday December 11, 2014. He was 70. A memorial gathering was held on Saturday December 20, at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, followed by a memorial.

Fulton, Geroline Case

Services for Mrs. Geroline Case Fulton, were held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with interment at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Geroline Case Fulton, 84, of Maurepas, Louisiana, formally of Brookhaven, passed away December 19, 2014 at her residence in Maurepas. She was born on May 17, 1930 to Marshall Case and Ruth Case. Mrs. Fulton was a mother, homemaker and member of Word of Life Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert H. Fulton; parents, Marshall and Ruth Case; daughter, Jeannetta Mitchell; sister, Elaine Smith and a great grandchild.Survivors include her son, Stacy Fulton and wife Becky of Union Church, MS; a daughter Lorinda Alford and husband David of Maurepas, Louisiana; brother, Hoyt Case and wife Eunice of Wesson; sister, Murilyn Smith of Loyd Star; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. The Family would like to sincerely thank St. Elizabeth Hospital, St. Joseph Hospice and her personal physician, Dr. Paul Aguillard; also a special thanks to her personal caregiver Linda Dennis who cared for Mrs. Fulton for 6+ years and her pastors, Ronnie and Grace Gautreaux.

Hernandez, Lorretta Lee Mann

A native of Houma and a long-time resident of Donaldsonville. She passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014, in New Orleans of lung cancer. She was 72. She was a graduate of Ponca City High School and National Beauty College. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery.

Kennix Jr., Mack Henry

A retired employee of the City of New Orleans, he died on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at his residence in New Orleans. He was 76, and a native of Donaldsonville. Burial in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Lanoux, Melvin Ray

He was age 64 and passed away at his home on Thursday, December 11, 2014 unexpectedly as a result of an accident. He was a native of Gonzales, and recent resident of Rio Vista, TX for the past two months. He was a faithful employee of 25 years at Community Opportunities of East Ascension and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memories Cemetery on Hwy 30 in Gonzales.

Mitchell, David Harry

A native of Baton Rouge, and resident of Prairieville, he passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the age of 68. He was a 1964 graduate of Istrouma High and was an Operator for Shell Chemical Geismar for 21 years. A private graveside service was held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Saturday, December 20, 2014.

Waguespack, Jr., Hickley Michael

He was a kind, sincere gentleman who valued faith, family and service to his community above all else. He died peacefully on December 18, 2014, at the age of 70 years at his home in Gonzales, surrounded by the loves of his life: his wife, children and grandchildren. He was born on December 25, 1943, in Gonzales to the former Sheriff of Ascension Parish, Hickley M. Waguespack, Sr. and Elia LeBeau Waguespack. Hickley was the oldest of eleven (11) children. He married Judy Jeanette Bertrand of Plaquemine, Louisiana, on August 29, 1964. He was a graduate of Gonzales High School and Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor's Degree. He then went on to obtain his Master's Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Throughout his successful career, Hickley worked as a regional manager for Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation, Administrator of East Ascension General Hospital and retired after much success as the Chief Operating Officer of Rehab Care Group based in St. Louis, Missouri. During his lifetime he proudly served his community by actively participating on several local and statewide boards including but not limited to being a member of the Baton Rouge Sheltered Workshop, Louisiana Hospital Association, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus and President of the following organizations: Louisiana Hospital Administrator Association, St. Theresa of Avila Catholic School Board, Ascension Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Rehabilitation Association, St. Elizabeth Hospital and River Parish Community College. He is survived by his wife and loving partner of 50 years Judy, his daughters, Rebecca and husband, Todd Villar, Stephanie and husband, Michael Schexnayder, Sr., and son, Stephen and wife, the former Colleen Guste. Grandchildren include Tasha Villar and fiancé Keith Andrepont, Kayla Villar, Kate Wall, Anna Wall, Craig Waguespack, Christopher Waguespack and Brady Waguespack along with step-grandchildren Susie Glueck and her husband, Ben Glueck, and Michael Schexnayder, Jr. and girlfriend, Leslie Strate. Step-great grandchildren include Patrick and William Glueck. Also survived by his siblings, Joe Waguespack and wife, Darla; Eileen Decoteau and husband, Sam; Linda Wiley and husband, Jeff; Gary Waguespack and wife, Zieda; Richard Waguespack and wife, Angel; Patty Cannon and husband, Jack; Robert Waguespack, Gloria Wiley and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his much loved son, Craig Stephen Waguespack, his parents, and brothers, James Waguespack and Gerald Waguespack, and Judy's parents, Elton and Mary Eulan Bertrand. Pallbearers were Joe Waguespack, Gene Bertrand, Tommy Hutto, Willie Mikell, Leo Zeno and Rivers Livious. Visitation was held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, Sunday, December 21. Visitation resumed at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales, Monday, December 22 until Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Hope Haven Cemetery and Mausoleum.
