Babin, Eugenie Marie Longa

She was age 92 and passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Springside of Pittsfield in Pittsfield, MA. She was born in Donaldsonville on Sept. 23, 1920. She attended local schools and graduated high school there. She was employed as a Library Assistant for the Donaldsonville Library retiring many years ago. Burial in the Ascension Cemetery in Donaldsonville.

Bessonet, Cherie Medine

She was 57 and passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 in Donaldsonville. Entombment in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church mausoleum.

Brown Sr., Andrew C.

He passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at his residence in Prairieville. He was 87 and a native of Center Ridge, Ark. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Cannon, Leo George

He was age 70 and passed away on Jan. 11, 2013 in Gonzales. A native and resident of Gonzales, he was a retired mechanic with Margot’s, Inc., a retired self-employed truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran. Burial in the Stevens Family Cemetery, Gonzales. He was a former leader of Troop 69 Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader which produced 8 Eagle Scout recipients.

Callahan, Earl Joseph "Cookie"

He was 86 and passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 08, 2013. He was a native of White Castle and resident of Donaldsonville. He was an overseer for 60 years at Palo Alto Plantation. Entombment in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church mausoleum, Smokebend.

Chacon, Julian

Julian Chacon “Sons of Silence 1%er” passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. He was 59 and was a retired Electrician. He was born on Nov. 24, 1953. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., on Jan. 5, at Manny’s Bar with Pastor R. Terry Lobell officiating, and the Sons of Silence as MCs. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Chacon; his parents, Salvador and Anita Chacon; daughters, Julie and Marie Richardson; sons, Jason Chacon and Chas Richardson; brothers, George Oscar and Welsey Chacon; and grandchildren, Andre’ Richardson and Love’ Lee Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his sisters, the late Rita Galindo and Connie Chacon.

Jones, Richard "Pete"

He was 78 and passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was a native of Liberty, Miss. and a resident of Gonzales. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales.

Punch, Dorothy L.

A native of Meadville, Miss., and a resident of Gonzales she died on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. She was 75 years old and was retired from BellSouth. Interment will be at the Natchez City Cemetery.

Roberts, Bill "Pop"

He passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. He was a retired employee of Cooper T. Smith in Darrow. Entombment in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Scarle, Mary Ann St. Amant

She was born Jan, 3, 1920 in Gonzales and died at her home in Hammond, on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the age of 93. She graduated from LSU with a Journalism degree in 1939. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Rosary Altar Society, the Wednesday Volunteers, The Round Table Club, the Hammond Garden Club, the Monday Bridge Club, the Tuesday Book Club, the Medical Auxiliary, and the Southeast Louisiana Historical Association. Interment in the Amite Memorial Gardens.

Villneuve, Roosevelt John "Velt"

He passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at his residence. He was a native of Sorrento and resident of Gonzales. He was 80 and a National Guard veteran. Interment at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales.

Webre, Marianne Lucille Savoy

She was 80 and passed away at her residence in Donaldsonville. She was a native of Barton and resident of Donaldsonville. Entombment in the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church mausoleum.
