Classy Ladies Sisters of Service host award banquet
The purpose of the annual Classy Ladies Sisters of Service Women of Excellence banquet, held Nov. 21 at Pelican Point, was to honor various women who have made a difference in the community.
The Women of Excellence Award was given to individuals who strive toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and forge paths of leadership for other women to follow.
The honorees for the evening were Shanita Smith, Miranda Mitchell, Rose Ann Washington, Brenda Scott, Yolanda Brown, Claudia Joseph, Shandria Smith, Caldonia Ceasar, Danielle McKinney, Doris Pillette and Melba Oubre.
The theme for the event was “Celebrating the Season of the Virtuous Woman.” Guest and the honorees had the option of various menu items, which included: chicken and sausage gumbo, shrimp and crawfish jambalaya, fried chicken, fried fish, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob, green beans, green salad, hot rolls and bread pudding.
The speaker of the evening was Pastor Christopher D. Smith Sr. of Fountain of Faith Christian Center. “He delivered a powerful message and was a blessing to everyone is attendance. Each honoree received a plaque and a gift bag,” said a Classy Ladies Sisters spokesperson.
Door prizes were given away and guest were treated to a spiritual dance by Ashley Cox.
