Parish President Proclaims May 6-12 as National Nurses Week in Ascension Parish

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed May 6-12, 2014 as “National Nurses Week in Ascension Parish.” President Martinez read the proclamation aloud during the Ascension Parish council meeting on April 23. President Martinez presented the proclamation to Caroline Conerly, assistant vice president of Patient Support Services and Charla B. Johnson, manager of Community and Provider Education, both with St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales. According to information provided by St. Elizabeth Hospital, there are nearly 3.1 million registered nurses in the U.S. comprising the nation’s largest health care profession. Conerly announced St. Elizabeth Hospital will be hosting a candlelight vigil on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. in front of the hospital as part of their Nurses: Leading the Way celebration. Conerly publicly invited all nurses of Ascension Parish to attend. “We would just like to invite all the nurses to come out and join us for a special celebration,” Conerly said.
