The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church Youth Sunday School Ministry in Gonzales recently teamed up with Baton Rouge Parents Magazine for a second time to donate socks for the magazine's 12th Annual Sock it to Me Sock Drive.

The Gonzales church collected 3,032 pairs of new socks to be distributed for children and adults in the Baton Rouge surrounding areas, as socks are the number one requested item for homeless shelters.

"This means to us that showing the love of God throughout the community," said Pastor Dr. Richard Rayborn II. "If we can help just one person we know that we haven't done something in vain."

Parents magazine Sock it to Me Sock Drive organizer said donations are still being accepted for sock and that their goal this year is to raise 25,000 pairs to give to those in need.

"This particular event for us is one of our most rewarding because we are able to talk to the sweetest of people, people with the biggest hearts that want to do for others and this gives them an affordable way to do so," she said.
