Tanger Outlets in Gonzales raised more than $5,000 through their annual breast cancer campaign that began in September of last year.

Through the Tanger PinkSTYLE Campaign, the outlet store was able to collect $5,314.77 to fight against breast cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. The money raised will benefit local breast cancer organizations and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

“Our annual breast cancer campaign gives us the opportunity to raise awareness and help save lives in the communities that we call home,” said Steven B. Tanger, President and Chief Executive Officer for Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. “The success of our annual PinkSTYLE campaign is made possible through the support of our retail partners and the millions of shoppers that visit Tanger Outlet centers dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer.”

The Kelli Leigh Richmond Ovarian Cancer Foundation in Baton Rouge was also the recipient of a $1,976.64 donation check made possible through the campaign. The local foundation assists women throughout the state battling cancer by offering them free clothes through a part of the foundation called Kelli's Kloset.

Kelli's Kloset was started in honor of Kelli Richmond who passed away after battling Ovarian Cancer for two and a half years.

In addition to offering cancer patients free clothes, the foundation also gives a $1,000 Birthday Wish every month to one woman battling any type of cancer throughout the state.

"When you see these women when you give them that check for their birthday and you for some of them you know its their last birthday, it touches you," said Kelli's father and foundation creator Ron Richmond.

With the donation from Tanger, the money will be used to help upkeep Kelli's Kloset and will provide one Birthday Wish in the coming months. Since its creation in October 2013, over 20 Birthday Wishes have been given out, including three patients from Ascension Parish.

"This means a whole lot to us, not only to me but to the patients," Richmond said. "That's the biggest thing. These patients are very dear to us because of our situation, loosing my only child almost five years ago with this disease."

Since its start over 23 years ago, the campaign has raised more than $16 million from 43 Tanger Outlet locations across the United States through the purchase of a Powerful Pink Savings Pass that saves 25 percent off single items at participating stores.
