GONZALES –Parish President Tommy Martinez, the Ascension Parish Council, and the Ascension Festivals and Cultural Council, Inc. have announced that the 2015 Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival will hold their annual Classic Car Show on Sept. 26 at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

     The Classic Car Show will take place in the Trade Mart building’s front parking lot, around the silos. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and includes a $20 entry fee. The first 50 registrants will receive a custom 2015 Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival Dash plaque.

     Judging will begin promptly at noon with trophy’s being awarded at 3:30 p.m.

Classic Car Show award categories will include Top Ten Stock (Cars in Original Condition), Top Ten Custom (Cars that have been modified or customized), Top Five Pro Builder (Professionally built cars), Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best In Show, People’s Choice and Parish President’s Choice.

     Organizers are encouraging classic car enthusiasts to bring out their cars and enjoy the balloons and fun at the 2015 Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival.

     Admission to the balloon festival is $5 for ages 13 and older and free for children 12 and younger. Organizers encourage festival goers to bring their own lawn chairs. Ice chests, pets, bicycles and personal motorized vehicles are prohibited.

     Gates will open on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. Gates will reopen on Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.

     This year’s event will again have balloon glows and tethered rides pending safe weather conditions. Balloon officials are reminding all festival goers that windy conditions may warrant suspension of the tethered rides and glows.
