Guests from Hospice of Baton Rouge, Tina LeBlanc, RN, BSN, staff nurse; and Craig Zaunbrecher, Community Relations Liaison, were invited to the May 12 VFW 3693 meeting by Adeline Guedry, VFW 3693 Cancer Chairman.
They each spoke about a very interesting subject of “Five Wishes.” Five Wishes lets you choose the person you want to make health care decisions for you if you can’t make them for yourself.
Some of the Five Wishes include:
1 - The Kind of Medical Treatment I Want or Don’t Want.
2 - How I Want People to Treat Me.
3 - What I Want My Loved One to Know.
Five Wishes is for anyone 18 or older. Louisiana is one of the 42 states that can use Five Wishes.
If you already have a Living Will you may want to use Five Wishes instead. Tell your doctor and family members to fill out a new Five Wishes and be sure they know about your new wishes.
Zaunbrecher and LeBlanc were very informative, and they answered questions from the members.
Zaunbrecher plays the accordion and he said when he comes back he will play it for the members.
The members appreciate them taking time to come to the VFW and speaking.
Brent Gautreau is the VFW 3693 Commander and Lois Croom is the VFW Auxiliary President.
