One of the Leadership Ascension groups, “The Leadership Pirates”, adopted Kidz Kove Discovery Park as their community project. The focus of their theme, “The park is alive….with the sound of music!” was recently unveiled at an official ceremony, turning over additional musical instruments to Kidz Kove Discovery Park.

Through great fundraising efforts, the Pirates raised a whopping $14,000 to provide more sensory musical pieces for the park. Not only did they raise enough to purchase them, they installed the musical equipment! And on top of that they presented a check for an additional $1400 to be used for the park as well!!

What a talented and devoted group.

Project Kidz Kove Board of Directors present to accept the donation and to witness the formal unveiling were Stacey Bumpus, Jodi Loar, Erin Lanoux, Pam Cagnolatti, Audrey Boudreaux, and Betty Arceneaux (there as PKK Board member and representative of the City of Gonzales). “We cannot thank the Leadership Pirates enough for adopting Kidz Kove Discovery Park for their project this past year. We know our special needs and typical kids will enjoy these added pieces very much,” stated a representative of Project Kidz Kove.

Kids were on hand to test the new pieces, and they seemed to be a huge hit! This will cut down on lines for those special needs kids to play the musical instruments. The sounds from these pieces are soothing to listen to even when all are being played.

Leadership Ascension is a program of the Ascension Chamber of Commerce. Each year members from the community are selected to participate in Leadership Ascension. At the beginning of their year, they are divided into groups, and asked to take on a project that will enhance the community.
