‘Fresh and Fabulous Finds’ at the Depot Gallery

Loveday Funck RRAA Publicity Chairman

At our core, we about sharing art and the value of art with the community.

Moving into the heat of the summer months, the members of River Region Art Association have a lot to keep them busy.

With local students out for the summer months, RRAA has begun its Summer Art Camp, allowing interested children an in depth immersion in a variety of art techniques, from basic drawing skills to experimental approaches to sculpture and mixed media.

The planning community for Awesome Art on the Bayou is deep into the months of planning required to host both an art exhibition for youth and adults as well as the logistics of all that is required to host a festival exhibiting the best in local food and handmade arts and crafts.

After many months of plans and consultations, River Region Art Association was able to launch its brand new website. The website allows its members and interested members of the public easy access to the many activities and classes available through the association.

With the addition of its cutting edge website as well as its art galleries at the historical beautiful Houmas House and its own Depot Gallery, River Region continues to cement its position as the leading regional art association.

Opened in 2013, the Depot Gallery serves as the physical core for the association and its members. The historic building is a hub for classes and meetings, offering learning opportunities to interested artists as well as the community at large. The gallery also allows all members the chance to share their latest work with the viewing public.

The Depot Gallery walls are covered with painting and photographs created by its members while the gift shop is home to sculpture, pottery, and an assortment of jewelry perfect for gift giving

Hours are 12 pm - 5 pm Wednesdays – Saturday; 12 pm – 4 pm on Sunday. The gallery is located at 1008 W. Hwy. 30 in Gonzales, which is across the highway from St. Elizabeth Hospital.
