The Louisiana Rural Caucus announces appointment of Rep. Schexnayder to Executive Committee for 2015-2016

The Louisiana Rural Caucus has announced the election and appointment of officers for the 2015-2016 year, and has appointed State Representative Clay Schexnayder, R-Gonzales.
As chairman, Representative Jack Montoucet, D-Crowley appointed seven members of the caucus, in addition to Representative Schexnayder, to serve as officers on the executive committee. They are Representatives Andy Anders of Vidalia, Ed Price of Gonzales, Robert Shadoin of Ruston, John Berthelot of Gonzales, as well as, Senators Rick Gallot of Ruston and Francis Thompson of Delhi. Montoucet said, “I am confident that we can work together to find common ideas and share solutions that address the issues in our state.”
The Rural Caucus, whose membership includes 87 legislators from around the state, is an organization that serves to promote and better the conditions and objectives of rural areas of Louisiana.
“Rural areas make up a large portion of the state of Louisiana, and I am honored to be a part of such an important effort. My fellow members and I will work together to resolve issues facing rural Louisiana, and always keep the needs of our constituents first,” Schexnayder said.
Elected to the House in 2011, Schexnayder serves on the Civil Law and Procedure, Labor and Industrial Relations, and National Resources and Environment committees, as well as the Legislative Audit Advisory Council and the House Select Committee on Homeland Security. In addition to the Rural Caucus, he is also a member of the Republican Delegation, Acadiana Delegation, and Capital Region Legislative Delegation. Schexnayder represents House District 81, which encompasses parts of Ascension, Livingston, St. James and St. John the Baptist Parishes.
