Mississippi man fatally electrocuted while working

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reports that an employee of Cable Works, identified as 38-year-old Courtney Jones of Yazoo, Mississippi was fatally electrocuted at approximately 11 a.m. this morning as he came in contact with overhead power lines on Highway 73 in Prairieville.

Efforts to recover the victim’s body shut down Highway 73 between Highway 42 and Airline Highway for a few hours and power was cut off in the immediate area for safety, said Lt. Col. Webre.

The incident is currently being investigated by the company and all roadways were re-opened, added Lt. Col. Webre.
