La. 44 at Railroad Crossing to Close for Maintenance Work

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced today La. 44 at the Canadian National Railroad Crossing will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 8 a.m., and reopen Friday, May 22.
According to a Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development press release, the closure is needed to perform maintenance on the railroad crossing. The road will be closed to all traffic during this time.
The railroad crossing is located three-quarters of a mile south of the La. 44/La. 22 intersection.
According to DOTD, the signed detour route includes La. 44, La. 22 and La. 70.
