River Community Church to host events related to post-abortion recovery

River Community Church and its His Garment Ministry abortion recovery ministry are sponsoring two abortion recovery events with Linda J. Cochrane, R.N., ASN. Cochrane is an author, speaker, teacher, trainer, and consultant with Care Net. Her Bible studies include Forgiven and Set Free, Healing a Father’s Heart, The Path to Sexual Healing, and A Time to Heal. She is currently serving at Hopeline Pregnancy Resource Center in Danbury, Connecticut.

Many women are consumed by guilt and depression after an abortion. Churches are recognizing the need to minister to the women who struggle with their choices and to offer them hope. Three out of ten women will have an abortion by age 45 (statistic from Guttmacher.org*). These women who have had abortions are friends, neighbors, and family. Many are sitting in churches. They carry a secret shame; Biblical healing can be a powerful tool to set these women free.

The first event is an abortion recovery informational event on Thursday, March 19, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. It is for anyone who has been affected by abortion or who has a friend or loved one who has been affected by abortion. It is also for pastors, women’s ministry leaders, counselors, and anyone who is passionate about pro-life. The event is free and open to the public; childcare is available upon request with advance registration.

There will be a two day Forgiven and Set Free Bible study leader training on Friday, March 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This event is for anyone who is interested in leading a Bible study to help women heal from the pain of abortion; especially counselors, women’s ministry leaders, and pregnancy center employees. Registration is required. The $75 registration fee includes training materials, lunch both days, and snacks.

Both events will be held at River Community Church: 36367 Perkins Road, Prairieville, Louisiana (a suburb of Baton Rouge).
