Arceneaux, Jo Ann

A resident of Gonzales and a long-time resident of Zachary, She died on Friday, January 2, 2015. She was 56. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Arnold, Nellie

A resident of Plaquemine age 78 she passed away on Thursday Dec. 25, 2014 in Gonzales. Interment Roscoe Semetery.

Burns, Ferrell

A native of Gonzales, and a resident of Iota, he passed away at the Arc of Acadiana on Monday, December 29, 2014. He was 61. A graveside service will be held at the Prairieville Community Cemetery at a later date.

Chidester, Bonnie Lynn Weaver

She passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014. She was 64. She was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Prairieville. Born October 10, 1950. She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1968. A Memorial Service held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Saturday, January 3.

Everett, Glynda

She passed away December 28, 2014. She enjoyed her Girl Scout Troop. Interment to follow at Lusk Cemetery, Gonzales.

Guillotte, Erin

A native of Mississippi and resident of Gonzales, she passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the age of 17. She was an animal lover and especially loved cats. Burial in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery in Gonzales.

Graves Sr., Leo John

Leo John Graves Sr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 8:37 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 79. He was a native of Darrow. He was employed at McCall Sugar House and later worked and retired in 1997 after 35 years from Ormet Corporation. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. Viewing will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 37303 Hwy. 22, Darrow, LA on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 10 from 8:30 – 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 10 at 10 a.m. He is survived by the love of his life of 55 years, his wife Leona Seraphene Joseph Graves; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Leo Jr. and Troy and Sonja Graves; one adopted daughter, Amy Lee; one brother and sister-in-law, Nathaniel and Josie Graves; four grandchildren, Autumn Lee, Troy Graves, Jr., Kolby Lee and Kennedy Lee; special family friends, Rev. Victor and Ann Pedescleaux, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Banks and Evelyn Graves; maternal grandparents, John and Alice Brown; paternal grandparents Banks Charles and Tina Graves. He was a member of the Ascension Parish Water Board and served as an usher at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Darrow.

Joseph, Charmaine

A former customer service manager with Walmart in Donaldsonville and a resident of Donaldsonville, she died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Prevost Memorial Hospital. She was 52. Interment in Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Lewis, Joan

A resident of Geismar, Louisiana she passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 27, 2014. She was 55. Interment in First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church cemetery, Geismar.

Laiche, Gerald

He passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was 81. He was a native of Sorrento and resident of St. Amant. He belonged to the boy Scouts Troop 69 of St. Amant and served as altar boy at Holy Rosary Catholic Church during the time Fr. Wysoff was officiating. He was a member of the National Guard, Battery D and Anti-Aircraft of Donalsonville. He belonged to the American Legion Gonzales Post and a life time member of the VFW in Gonzales. He served in the Navy Sea Bees for four years during the Korean War. He was a retired pipefitter for the local 198 of Baton Rouge, as well as retired Benard and Burk Supervisor. He worked as a correctional officer at Hunts Correctional Center for 7 years. He was a graduate of St. Amant High school, Class of 1952. Entombment in Holy Rosary Mausoleum.

Matassa, Bena

She passed away peacefully at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge on Saturday, January 3, 2015. She was born February 21, 1925, She was a past co-owner of Matassa Furniture and Donaldsonville Sears and Roebuck Catalog store. Entombment in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church cemetery in Donaldsonville.

Milano, Carlton

He passed away on December 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1926 in Donaldsonville, where he resided most of his life. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army, 41st Infantry Division as a Medic. During the war he was assigned to the campaign in the Philippines and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Entombment in Ascension Catholic Mausoleum.

Phillips, Marguerite

A resident of Prairieville, she passed away at 1:53am Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was 85, and a native of Pride. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Prairieville, and of the Blue Army Rosary Society

Simoneaux, Dakota Delanne

Dakota Delanne Simoneaux, 4 weeks old, passed away on December 25, 2014. She was a resident of St. Amant. Dakota is survived by her parents, Britney Templet and Daniel Simoneaux; maternal grandparents, Heather and Josiah Ritz, William and Karen Templet; parental grandmother, Celeste Simoneaux; sister, Demii Englade; brothers, Bradyn LeBlanc and Breton LeBlanc. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Marvin Roussel. Visitation was held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales from 9:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm. Skinner Jr., Roland

A retired Ascension Parish Sheriff's Deputy and a resident of Modeste, he died on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 3:11 AM at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was 64 and a US Army veteran. Interment in St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery. He was a member of Hiram #12 Masonic Lodge.

Sotile, Charles

He passed away at home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 1:15 p.m. He was 84. He was a native and resident of Donaldsonville. Charles was known as the Sotile family historian for more than 48 years. He maintained the family tree of his grandparents Vincenzo and Conchetta Marcello Sotile. He was an active member and officer of the St. Joseph Society and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1087. Charles donated his body to the Tulane School of Medicine, therefore, a memorial service will be held June 2015, at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church.
