Braud, Ruth

She was 82 and passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home. She was a native of Dutchtown and resident of Prairieville. Entombment in Hope Have Garden of Memories Cemetery, Prairieville.

Brown, Helen Smiley

She passed away December 21, 2014, at her home in Lake. Born in Lake on March 3, 1924, she had reached the tender age of 90. She was a retired Foster Grandparent with 15 years of service. She held a lifetime membership to the Ladies Axillary of the V.F.W. Post 3693 and the American Legion. She was a member of Lake Martin Baptist Church. Interment will be in Lake Community Cemetery.

Crim, James “Jim” W.

A native of Petersburg, Virginia and resident of Prairieville, he passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was discharged after serving his country honorably. He retired from Honeywell – Geismar, site (formerly Allied-Signal) after 40 years of service with the company where he received numerous awards for perfect attendance. While at the company, he founded and served as president of the GEA Federal Credit Union where he also received awards for volunteering his time for over 25 years. Interment in Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana.

Chidester, Bonnie Lynn Weaver

She was age 64 and passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014. She was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Prairieville. She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1968. There will be a Memorial Service held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Saturday, January 3 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Companion Animal Rescue of Ascension (CARA). P.O. Gonzales, Marie Bernice “Talone”

She passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Golden Age Nursing Center. She was 98. She was a native of Sorrento, a lifelong resident of the Lake, and for the past ten years a resident of French Settlement. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Nicol, Billie S.

She passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2014 at 1 pm at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. She is a native and resident of Brittany. She was 80. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory.

Montero, Beverly Holbert

She passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she moved to Louisiana with her family when she was 12. She graduated from Assumption High School in Napoleonville. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery Mausoleum Prairieville.

Oliver, Mary “Diane”

A lifelong resident of Gonzales, she passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 74. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gonzales.

Piper, Audrey Roubique

Audrey Roubique Piper, 59, native of Baton Rouge and resident of Maurepas, LA, passed away in her home on the morning of Friday, December 26, 2014 after her fight with cancer. Audrey was born in Baton Rouge to Mable and Lawrence Roubique on November 9, 1955, but returned to her mother’s hometown of Woolpit, England to attend school in 1968, but spent most of her life on and around the rivers of South Louisiana. She was a graduate of Istrouma High School, attended LSU, and recently retired from CDI Engineering. Audrey is survived by the love of her life, her husband, James “Randy” Piper and her “babies”, Konic and Raquel. The other love of her life was riding on their Harley, wrapping her arms around Randy and feeling the wind in her face or riding in her convertible with the top down to Mexico Beach. She is also survived by her daughter, Chetta Donaldson; grandchildren, Destyni, 9 and Dayton, 7; brothers, Lawrence Roubique and wife Maria and Howard Roubique and Teresa Stafford; sisters, Louise Roubique and Rodney Cathey, Rhonda Jackson and husband Ricky; sister-in-law, Jackie Piper Guilbeau; brother-in-law, Daryl Piper, Sr. She is preceded in death by an infant child, David McVea; parents, Lawrence Wallace and Mabel Roubique; father and mother-in-law, Jack and Lillian M. Piper; brother-in-law, Francis Dale Piper; and son, Joel (Piper) Czarnomski of Gonzales, LA. The family would like to send a special thanks to friends Karen, Katie, and Tracey. To know Audrey was to experience unconditional love. There was no distinction between friends and family. Once you were a part of her life, you became family. She was the first to reach out to help and the last to leave a person in need. If you were lucky enough to know her, you became a better person and helped make the world a more loving and accepting place. Audrey loved without condition and is leaving behind many whose lives will not be the same without her. She was a true Steel Magnolia; a person of strength, character, and love. Visiting was observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 10:00 am until service time. Funeral service were held at 2:00 pm. Remel, John T.

He passed away at home in Gonzales, at 6 pm on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. He was 96, born on Aug. 8, 1918 in Echo, and retired as a foreman with J.A. Jones Construction. He was a Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 81 Gonzales and Carpenters and Piledrivers Local Union 1846. He played baseball for the Alexandria Pelicans. Graveside service were military honors at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.

Smith, Sherry Elizabeth

A resident of Prairieville, she passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014. A memorial service was held Monday, December 29 at South Walker Baptist Church, Denham Springs.

Tripp, Vincent

He was age 90 and passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014. He was a native of Kenner and resident of Gonzales. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from Triad Chemical Plant and was known as “Big Daddy” by most. Interment in Lusk Cemetery in Gonzales.

Waggenspack, Jan Marie

A native of Darrow and resident of Gonzales, she passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 1:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 60. She graduated from Ascension Catholic High School and Larry's Beauty College. She was a past secretary of the Darrow Water Board and a retired employee with 28 years of service from Wal-Mart in Gonzales. There was a visitation at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Darrow, Wednesday, December 31, followed by Mass of Christian Burial.
