Friendship Force of BR holds Christmas Party

The Friendship Force of Baton Rouge held its annual Christmas Party at the lovely home of Jim Willis and Emily Stich on Applewood Road at 6 P.M. on Thursday, December 4. The home was beautifully decorated with poinsettias throughout the house. A bountiful buffet of food prepared by the food committee was enjoyed by all. Committee members were Bob and Gayle Duncan (Chairs), Karen Pharis, Trudy Ivy, Linda Pace, Thornton Cofield, Barbara Wittkopf, Howard and Jean Merrill, Vera Martin, Alice Luno and Frances Bennett.

Officers for 2015 were installed at the party. Officers are President – Keith Corkern; Vice-President – Morena Cazedessus; Secretary – Bob Duncan; Treasurer – Janet Varnado; Past President – Thornton Cofield and Board Members At Large – Lin Ashton, Frances Bennett and Sheila Melancon.

Atttendees brought over 500 pounds of non-perishable food items as well as laundry detergent to be donated to Immanuel Baptist Church in Hammond for its international students ministry program.

Committee Chairs Bob and Gayle Duncan presented all the attendees with a Friendship Force Christmas Ornament. The group sang Christmas Carols accompanied on the piano by Friendship Force member Margaret Moore. The evening closed with the singing of “Let There Be Peace on Earth”.
